RGGI CO2 Budget Application
DESCRIPTION:
Green Mountain Power Corporation (GMP) was required to prepare a CO2 Budget permit application for the electric power generating station in Berlin, VT per the new Vermont CO2 Budget Trading Program rule. The greenhouse gas rule, establishing the Vermont component of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), required that the application be submitted by January 1, 2009. RGGI is a multi-state initiative to establish a cap-and-trade program to reduce CO2 emissions from fossil fuel-fired electric generating units that have a nameplate capacity equal to or greater than 25 megawatts.
Tech had less than one week to prepare the application to meet the January 1st greenhouse gas reporting deadline. Tech worked hand-in-hand with Green Mountain Power to assemble all needed information and to submit it via a new online system. The Tech/GMP team was able to successfully meet the deadline.
