Odor Control Recommendation for Amphidrome System
DESCRIPTION:
A gated residential development utilized an Amphidrome packaged wastewater system, with tanks placed belowground beneath a golf course fairway. No odor control was applied to this on-site septic system, and concerns later arose over odorous impacts. In an earlier project, Tech Environmental was retained to study the sewer and treatment system and the odor concern. This project entailed a detailed study and recommendation for odor control.
Tech identified an ideal on-site location for an indoor/outdoor installation. This indoor outdoor installation would result in a system with a long life and very little to replica watches no noise impacts to the golfers. Tech worked with the vendor to develop a cost estimate for a system that would include indoor ducting, fans and humidification systems and an outdoor biofiltration system. Tech examined a number of ventilation options, since adequate capture and ventilation is paramount in this installation.
The recommended system was ideal for the site, given the heightened level of concern, peak loading potential and long term operational cost considerations. Not only was this odor control system the best fit, it would prove to be more cost-effective than carbon adsorption over the life of the wastewater treatment plant.
